Cross Base Pile Weatherstrip

A cross-shaped base — two bars crossing inside a 3 mm square envelope — with the filament set into the overlap at the centre. It wedges into a slot instead of lying flat in a channel, and the two upper arms hold the filament upright.

Made to order Base profile, pile height and colour — all specified by you. Standard sizes run on existing tooling; non-standard is the larger half of what we run.

Also called cross base pile weatherstrip, X type weather strip, X profile pile weatherstrip, cross base brush seal, special profile pile seal, diamond base pile weatherstrip and square base pile weatherstrip.

Made to your channel, not ours

The two dimensions called out on that drawing are both yours to set. On this line the backing profile itself is the drawing. Send the channel and we work back from it.

Same terms. Post us 50 mm of the extrusion and we cut to it; the die stays reserved to your part number

Send a drawing, and post us 50 mm or more of the extrusion — we match the backing to the section itself. Any tooling we have to cut is ours to pay for, and it stays reserved to your part number. Large suppliers sell from a fixed catalogue and treat a non-standard size as an inconvenience. We were built the other way round.

Why this construction

Some extrusions are cut with a slot geometry that a flat backing either rattles in or will not enter at all. A cross section meets the slot on four arms instead of two flat edges, so it seats down the centre of the opening. Rather than asking you to change the die, we change the base.

How to specify it

Four things get you a quote and a matched sample. If you only have two of them, send two.

  1. The backing width you runGive it however you have it — .270″, 7 mm, or the die drawing. We convert.
  2. The pile height you needOr the gap you are sealing, if the height was never specified.
  3. Fin or no finAnd silicone treatment or not. These are the two that change the part number.
  4. Annual volume and colourRough is fine. It decides the run size, not the price of the sample.
